When they faced off last week, the Arizona Christian University softball team took three of four games from Embry-Riddle. The way day one of the GSAC playoffs began Tuesday, it looked like it would go in the Lady Firestorm’s favor again. They gained an early 1-0 lead over the Lady Eagles. But after that, “The Claire-nado” Claire Streeter shut down ACU’s offense the rest of the way. Meanwhile, Riddle scratched out runs here and there, and the number four seed Lady Eagles knocked off the number one seed Lady Firestorm 4-1.
Streeter fanned ten in a winning effort. Katie Jamieson drove in two runs. Ari Garcia and Anise Romo each had an RBI.
Also in day one of the GSAC playoffs, number three Hope International doubled up number two Ottawa 6-3. The Spirit then creamed ACU 8-1 to eliminate them from the tournament.
Riddle will play Hope today.
