The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a public health alert for certain meat and poultry products that may be contaminated with salmonella.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service says the products contain dairy ingredients, including dry milk powder, that were recalled by the FDA. Officials warn more affected products could be identified as the investigation continues.
Officials with Yavapai County Community Health Services report the current recall is for products under the Mama Cozzi’s brand, which includes sausage and cheese breakfast pizza, pork belly crumbles, and pepper and onion breakfast pizza.
Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. No confirmed illnesses have been reported, but consumers are advised not to eat the products and should throw them away or return them.
