Firefighters responded to a wildfire burning southwest of Yarnell Thursday referred to as the Spar Fire.
The fire blaze reached approximately 10 to 15 acres in size and forward spread has been stopped. The fire had burned through grass and brush and became established in rocky terrain along a ridgeline, making access more challenging for crews.
Multiple resources were dispatched to the scene, including Arizona Forestry overhead personnel, a Bureau of Land Management helicopter, and local fire engines.
Fire Officials say four single-engine air tankers, the state’s air attack platform, and two hand crews were also deployed to the area.
No evacuations have been announced and no structures are reported threatened. Fire officials report a charcoal grill was responsible for the fire.
Then at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, units were dispatched to a vegetation fire reported at five acres called the Longfellow Fire. This fire is located along the Longfellow Ridge just south of Pine Mountain, which is approximately 15 miles south of Prescott.
