1955: A tragic day on the racetrack. Bill Vuckovich was killed in a crash at the Indy 500. He was vying for his third straight win in the 500 at the time of his death.
2000: The newbie won it. Juan Pablo Montoya won the Indy 500 after leading for 167 laps. He was the first rookie racer since 1966 to win at Indy.
2003: One of the best called it quits. NHL goalie Patrick Roy announced his retirement. In 19 seasons with Montreal and Colorado, Roy won 551 games, a career 2.54 goals against average, and won four Stanley Cups and three Vezina Trophies.
