Yavapai County Puts Out Emergency Brochure for Those with Communication Difficulties

Yavapai County Community Health Services has launched a new bilingual emergency communication brochure aimed at helping residents communicate essential needs during disasters and other emergencies.

The portable brochure is designed for people who may have difficulty speaking or understanding spoken language during stressful situations. It features visual symbols, English and Spanish text, medical information sections, and an emergency communication board that allows users to point to specific needs.

Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Sean Underhill says communication can be one of the biggest barriers to receiving assistance during a crisis, and the brochure helps users express their needs.

County officials encourage residents to complete the personal profile section, keep the brochure in their emergency kit, and review it with family members.
