While the speed limit is 75 miles per hour on most stretches of I-17, that is not the case in construction zones. With work still being performed between Sunset Point and Anthem, Arizona Department of Transportation officials want to remind people that the lower speed limits in these work zones are not suggestions. Traveling at speeds higher than the posted limit through a construction zone not only puts your life at risk, but also that of construction workers.
Motorists are urged to slow down when traveling through the project area. Fines for speeding through a work zone are also doubled.
