Local scoreboard from the weekend, in baseball, Yavapai College knocked off Arizona Western 7-0 in the first game, but lost game two 14-2. Traig Oughton threw a complete game shutout, giving up just four hits in the game one. Mayer lost to Desert Heights Prep 19-1.
In softball, Yavapai College fell to Eastern Arizona 12-3 in game one, then took game two 5-4. Hayden McGuire homered and drove in four runs in the second game. Embry-Riddle swept its four-game series with Benedictine-Mesa. Leah Salas had two home runs and ten RBIs for the series.
At the Mesa Track and Field Invitational, Embry-Riddle’s Rae Yoshioka won her heat in the 800 meter run and Jamie Black was second in the long jump.
The Bradshaw Mountain boys volleyball team was overpowered by Thunderbird 3-1.
