A lot of new faces will be on the Yavapai College women’s soccer team next season. One of their recruits comes from the Grand Canyon region. That’s Sophia Fottrell, an all-region forward from Lee Williams High School. She notched 32 goals this past season. Also joining the Lady Riders is midfielder Ashley Macedo, who is transferring from Union University. Another new midfielder is Perry High School product Eva Diaz, whose father played for the Yavapai men’s team in the early 1990s. Also coming from Perry is forward Reagan Peterson.
Other Arizona recruits include Morgan McLane, an all-region midfielder from Higley High School; Jill Young, an all-region first team forward from Shadow Ridge High School, and Sophia Herrera, an all-region defender from Mesa High School.
Yavapai also picked up two new goalkeepers, Talon Bennett, an all-region first team selection from Gilbert High School, and Poppy Anderson from South Croydon, England.
