Georgia Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Child Sex Crimes by Yavapai County Jury

A Georgia man, 59-year-old Evan Carraher, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for sexual conduct with a minor under the age of twelve and an additional consecutive 17 years for molestation of a child under the age of fifteen. The sentencing followed a March 2024 jury trial in Yavapai County Superior Court.

County Attorney Dennis McGrane stated, “I have zero tolerance for anyone who abuses a child. This life sentence sends a strong message to child molesters that they will be aggressively prosecuted and punished if they victimize children in Yavapai County.”

The investigation by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Carraher, a family friend, used his relationship to gain access to and abuse two young children, one of whom was only seven years old. The abuse was eventually reported by the younger child.
