Both teams kept scratching out runs and exchanging leads. In the top of the seventh, the Prescott baseball team tied the score, but in the bottom of the seventh, Deer Valley walked it off in a 4-3 victory in the opening round of the 4A conference state playoffs Saturday. Brendan Costes, Jack Burton, and Luke Tobin each had an RBI. Ryan Elliott went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
The Badgers conclude the season with a 17-7 record. The Skyhawks, meanwhile, face Estrella Foothills in the second round today.
The Prescott softball team, meanwhile, had all kinds of issues dealing with Macee Jackson. The Salpointe Catholic pitcher fanned 15 and allowed just one hit to hand the Lady Badgers the 3-0 loss in the opening round of the state tournament Saturday. RJ Parra collected Prescott’s lone hit.
The Lady Badgers finish the 2024 season at 18-11.
