Prescribed burns are planned throughout the month of May in one section of the Prescott National Forest. Fire crews will conduct burning operations for debris piles leftover from thinning operations in the Prescott Basin, which includes Ponderosa Park, Copper Basin, Walker Road, and Deering Park. Smoke should be visible throughout the Tri-City area, but smoke impacts should be minimal. Visitors to the Prescott National Forest are reminded to obey all traffic signs.
These prescribed burns help reduce hazardous fuels in the forest to lower the risk of a wildfire. These pile burns will continue until the end of the month.
