With the Wildcat Fire burning in the Tonto National Forest and after a small wildfire broke out off Senator Highway earlier this week, it’s a good time to remind everyone what they can do to prevent wildfires in the Tri-City area. The City of Prescott recently came out with several tips.
One is to keep water containers near grills, smokers, fire pits, and campfires. Grills and smokers should only be used on gravel or paved surfaces. You should also make sure all brush is cleared within a 10-foot radius of a campfire. If you have a lawn, keep the grass short and water it regularly.
When driving, make sure chains are not dragging on the roadway as they can produce sparks, and never throw cigarette butts out car windows.
