The Grand Canyon University baseball team’s season came to an end Sunday, losing to West Virginia 10-6 in the Tucson Regional of the College World Series. It marked the first time the ‘Lopes made it to an NCAA I regional final.
Helping GCU achieve its success this year were three former members of the Yavapai College baseball team. Alton Gyselman appeared in 55 games this season, batting .261 with four home runs, 29 RBIs, and a .401 slugging percentage.
Nathan Ward, who had 15 wins in his Roughrider career, pitched 20 games out of the bullpen, going 1-2 with a 4.37 ERA, seven saves, and 25 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.
Barrett Skaugrud took the mound eight times for grand canyon this season, striking out 23 batters in 17 innings.
The Antelopes finished the 2024 season with a 36-25 record.
