Yavapai County Man Sentenced to Prison for DV and Arson

Forty-Eight year old James Haynes agreed to a plea deal with the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office and was sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of arson and domestic violence.

Last October, Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Haynes after he used his vehicle to crash through two gates and into a camper trailer occupied by a woman who had an order of protection against him. Haynes then lit his vehicle on fire and crawled underneath the trailer, attempting to gain access through the floor. This quickly caused the trailer and residence to ignite. All residents of the trailer were able to evacuate safely, however, multiple structures were fully engulfed. Propane tanks and ammunition began to rapidly explode.

Deputies found Haynes hiding under the trailer and arrested him. The investigation discovered Haynes had multiple violations of the order of protection and harassment charges.
