No doubt Northern Arizona went into Sunday’s game versus Bay Area with heavy hearts, thinking of defensive line coach David Moran, who passed away last week after suffering a heart attack. The Panthers were in complete control of the game through the first three quarters, going up 40-15 at one point. But wanting to honor the memory of their late coach, the Wranglers fought back, and with four seconds left in regulation, Gene Coleman II caught a touchdown pass from Joshua Jones to pull NAZ to within one of Bay Area. Instead of going for the extra point, Axel Perez dropkicked the ball for a deuce and the Wranglers completed the comeback, final score 47-46.
Jones finished the night with three touchdown throws and two touchdown runs. Tosin Oyekanmi had two touchdown catches. Shamar Moreland had an interception.
Northern Arizona is 9-5 on the season and tied with the Vegas Knight Hawks for fourth place in the IFL’s Western Conference.
