Aerial tankers have helped slow the spread of the Thompson Fire near Skull Valley. At last report, the blaze is 108 acres in size, but is 50-percent contained. The fire is burning in rugged and inaccessible terrain. Crews from the state Department of Forestry and Fire Management are on site in case the fire spreads to flatter terrain.
The Thompson Fire broke out Saturday. The cause of the fire is not known.
Meanwhile, the Hillside Fire near Congress is 100-percent contained after burning 818 acres.
