Some comings and going for Yavapai College sports. Going to a Division I school is baseball’s Riley Nelson. He has committed to Vanderbilt University.
A native of Trophy Club, Texas, nelson had a tremendous year at the plate for the Roughriders in 2024. He batted .412 – the second best average in the ACCAC — with 13 home runs – second most in the conference — 55 RBIs – also second most in the conference — 21 doubles, two triples, 48 runs scored, a conference-leading .788 slugging percentage, and a .495 on-base percentage. In the field, he committed just one error in 311 chances for a .997 fielding percentage and was named to the all-ACCAC First Team.
Coming to Yavapai College for the men’s basketball team is Kevin Rucker, junior. A 6’4 guard from Chester, Pennsylvania, he averaged 18 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game at Bonner and Prendergast High School.
