The Indoor Football League has honored David Moran in a big way. He was named the league’s Assistant Coach of the Year. Moran had been the defensive coordinator for the Northern Arizona Wranglers since the team’s inception four years ago, and also coached special teams. He passed away on July 1st after suffering a heart attack two days prior before the Wrangler’s match-up with the San Diego Strike Force.
This season, Moran’s defense produced one of the top defensive backs in the league in Travion Banks, who was tied for the IFL lead in interceptions with eight, and one of the league’s top linemen in Tramond Lofton. Thanks to Moran’s efforts, NAZ finished the season with a 9-7 record. He also helped the Wranglers win the IFL championship in 2022.
Prior to joining the Northern Arizona coaching staff, Moran was the head coach for Bradshaw Mountain High School.
