Big numbers got him a big award. Northern Arizona Wranglers quarterback Joshua Jones was named the Indoor Football League’s Offensive Rookie of the Year. This season, Jones threw for 2,888 yards and 56 touchdowns. He also showed off his running prowess as he garnered 684 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns.
Jones was also named the IFL Offensive Player of the Week twice during the 2024 season. The first time was during week eleven when he threw seven touchdown passes in a 60-53 win over the Tucson Sugar Skulls. The second time was during week 15 when he threw six touchdown passes in a 74-68 triumph over the San Antonio Gunslingers.
Jones led the Wranglers to a 9-7 record this season. Before coming to Northern Arizona, Jones was in the 2023 training camp for the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played collegiately for UNC Pembroke, where he had 10,148 passing yards and 70 touchdowns for his career, and was a three-time All-Mountain East team selection.
