The unemployment rate in Arizona ticked up another tenth of a percent in July to 3.4 percent. Doug Walls with the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity says it’s still below the national rate. Employment increased by 74,300 jobs since July of 2023. Walls says over the last year, Arizona’s labor force increased, too, by 1.6 percent, outpacing the national rate of 0.8 percent, showing Arizona is still attractive to job seekers.
There were job gains in 9 of the 12 sectors in all of Arizona’s 7 metro areas. Job losses in education, hospitality, among other industries, are typical for the time of year.
In Yavapai County, the unemployment rate is 4.2 percent.
