The Yavapai College men’s soccer team stumbled early in their season opener last night. Little over eleven minutes into the match, Fullerton’s Evan Courtney put the ball in the back of the net. After that, the Roughriders played stifling defense the rest of the night to the point the Hornets only had two more shots on goal. Yavapai, however, was also foiled by Fullerton’s defense as they only recorded a single shot on goal. The result, a 1-0 loss for YC.
The Roughriders remain in California as they take on Mount San Antonio tomorrow night. After that, Yavapai has a long break between games. They don’t return to action until September 10th, when they battle Arizona Western in their home opener. Two more road games follow before the Roughriders set foot on Prescott’s Ken Lindley Field again on September 21st versus Community Christian.
