The relatively young Chino Valley volleyball team got its first test of 2024 when they opened their season at home against Winslow Wednesday night.
The first set went rough for the Lady Cougars as they fell to the Lady Bulldogs 25-11. The second set was a lot closer, with Chino coming up short 25-21. The third set was not so close, with Winslow taking it 25-10 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
For the Lady Cougars, Eva Sanchez recorded four kills, three aces, and 14 digs. Lilliana Rodriguez made 23 digs. Toby Russler posted three blocks. Chino Valley is off until next Thursday when they travel to Camp Verde. Then on September 7th, the Lady Cougars head to Phoenix for the Small School Invitational at Horizon Honors.
