The lights went out in Black Canyon City after a vehicle crashed into two community mailboxes, a street sign, and an APS pole before ending up in a ditch on Coldwater Road.
Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Paul Wick says deputies responded to calls from local residents around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday:
The damage to the APS pole caused all of Black Canyon City to lose power. During the initial investigation, it was suspected that the driver, a man in his 50’s, was impaired by alcohol. He was transported to a hospital in North Phoenix for injuries sustained in the crash.
APS was able to get the power restored by approximately 10:30 p.m. and told deputies they believe the damage to be around $10,000 dollars. Charges for DUI and felony criminal damage will be referred to the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office.
