Football Recap: CVHS Crushes Kingman Academy, BMHS Subdued by Snowflake

The Chino Valley football team must have been motivated to put on a great show in front of their fans in last Friday’s home opener. The Cougars absolutely owned Kingman Academy, trouncing them 54-0. Chino had 500 yards of offense, while their defense held the Tigers to just 50 yards of offense.

Ben Sibole threw four touchdown passes and Levi Akans had three rushing touchdowns. Defensively, Caden Call registered three sacks. Jeremiah Duplechain returned a fumble recovery 50 yards for a score. Lyric Brooks set the Cougars’ all-time record for most career interceptions.

The Bradshaw Mountain football team, meanwhile, began its 2024 season with a long road trip to Snowflake. It turned out to be a rough night for the Bears as they lost to the Lobos 47-27. Mike Sanford had a touchdown throw and a touchdown run. Sean Hughes returned a kick 95 yards for a score.

Mayer did not play last Friday. They had to forfeit their game to Superior.
