Yavapai County Sheriff Rhodes on Shooting of Phoenix Police Officers

Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes has issued a statement regarding the shooting of two Phoenix police officers Tuesday night.

Rhodes said, “Today once again we are grieving the senseless act of violence against law enforcement. This time the officers and their families are dealing with the shock and despair. All for protecting the rights of their community. Violence against law enforcement must never be tolerated by our society and we must always support our public safety officers as they fight for us.”

The officers were shot while pursuing a man suspected of breaking into a car. One officer is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition. The suspect, 41-year-old Saul Bal, has been arrested on charges of attempted murder and burglary.
