Local scoreboard from the weekend, in soccer, for the guys, Chino Valley came away champions of the Chino Cup, beating Madison Highland 4-0 in the final game.
Volleyball, Embry-Riddle lost to Ottawa 3-2. Lilly Figgins made 35 digs. Bradshaw Mountain went 4-1 at the Ceil Billings Tournament. Chino Valley went 4-3, and Mayer went 1-4 at the Spartan Classic in Ash Fork.
In cross country, the Prescott boys finished 13th at the Ojo Rojo Invitational. David Richards came in 32nd place. At the Four Corners Invitational, for Chino Valley, Eliana Metz placed tenth in the girls’ race. The boys came in 13th place. In the open division, the Bradshaw Mountain boys came in fifth, with Trevor Head in seventh place. Sara Harmon finished third in the girls’ race.
Swimming, at the Crosswhite Invitational, several Prescott swimmers achieved personal records and state qualifying times, with Anwen Smith setting school records in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle. At the Cool Pines Swim, Bradshaw Mountain’s James Kang was second in the boys’ 100 breast.
The Prescott badminton team won the Westwood Birdie Blitz.
A former Prescott football player made it onto the roster of a D1 school. Cian McKelvey made the USC Trojans as a walk-on. In his senior season for the Badgers, McKelvey rushed for 899 yards and ten touchdowns and was named the AIA Student-Athlete of the Year.
