The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management is doling out two million dollars in funds to assist communities with wildfire risk reduction projects. Some of that money is coming to Yavapai County. The Prescott Area Wildland Urban Interface will receive $156,000, and the Peeples Valley Fire District Auxiliary is getting $100,000.
This is part of the Healthy Forest Initiative, which focuses on fire prevention, critical infrastructure protection, and forest and watershed restoration through the reduction of hazardous vegetation.
