Signature Numbers Solidified for Lakeshore 650 Referendum

A Yavapai County Superior Court judge ruled that 1,455 valid signatures are needed for the Stop-Lakeshore-650 referendum petition. That number represents 10 percent of the 14,550 ballots cast for the July 30 primary election.

Town of Prescott Valley officials say there had been many questions about the number of signatures required based on language in the applicable state statute that refers to the number of votes cast as opposed to ballots cast. Town legal representatives worked with the Stop-Lakeshore-650 committee’s legal representative to quickly obtain a ruling by a judge. Town officials announced they will not appeal the decision.

Lakeshore 650 is a proposed master-planned community located near Lakeshore Drive and Fain Road.
