A-DOT crews have completed rockfall mitigation work on Highway 89A in Oak Creek Canyon. As a result, all traffic restrictions in the area have been lifted.
During the project, crews removed loose material and stabilized a cliff face along the switchbacks where a rockslide occurred in March of last year. They also removed a large rock overhang just north of Sedona. The Highway 89A Pumphouse Wash Bridge near the switchbacks was improved, and A-DOT crews finished an erosion and sediment control project.
The entire effort totaled eleven million dollars.
