The rain that fell on Yavapai County last weekend helped bring down the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest. Last week, the fire danger was extreme. Now, the fire danger is high.
While no fire restrictions are in place in the forest, everyone is urged to take precautions when out camping or hiking. Make sure your campfire is completely out and ashes are cool to the touch before you leave. If you smoke, make sure to properly discard your cigarettes and do not throw them into grass or brush.
When driving, check that no chains are dragging from your vehicle, as they can throw out sparks. Also, do not park on grass, as the heat from under your vehicle can ignite the vegetation.
