A local athlete has made his commitment to a Division One school. Prescott’s Uriah Tenette went on Instagram to announce his commitment to the UC San Diego men’s basketball team. In his three seasons on varsity for the Badgers, Tenette – according to MaxPreps – has amassed 1,906 points. In addition, he has 416 rebounds, 345 assists, and 247 steals in his Prescott career.
Last season, “Tenacious T” was named the Grand Canyon Region Player of the Year for the second year in a row, was the 4A Co-Conference Player of the Year, and ended up in the top 25 in the nation in scoring among high school players. UC San Diego went 21-12 last season.
While he is committed to play basketball for the Tritons, right now Tenette is making his mark on the gridiron for Prescott, where he has thrown for 1,463 yards and 14 touchdowns, rushed for 529 yards and ten touchdowns, and on defense has snagged five interceptions.
