While the Prescott badminton team cruised to a 5-0 win over Combs on Monday, Tuesday saw the Lady Badgers engage in a dogfight with Sunrise Mountain to determine who moves on to the next round of the state tournament. Prescott struggled in singles competition, dropping four of their six matches to the Lady Mustangs. Reese Sorensen secured a win in a third-set tiebreaker, while Liv Norman picked up the other singles win for the Lady Badgers.
It all came down to the doubles portion of the match. While Clair Long and Annabelle Courtney won their match in two sets, the pairings of Sorensen and Ashlynn Reed, along with Norman and Abigail Daniels, both had to go to third-set tiebreakers—and they both won their matches, giving Prescott the 5-4 victory.
That puts the Lady Badgers into the Final Four of state, which takes place tomorrow.
