The Yavapai College men’s soccer team did not waste any time taking control of last night’s Region One semifinal game versus Eastern Arizona. They put up two goals against the Gila Monsters within the first 24 minutes of the contest. After that, it was all about defense. Eastern had a few good scoring attempts, but all were turned away by keeper Max Ionita. When the final horn sounded, the Roughriders claimed the 2-0 victory.
Dante Espino-Kennedy and Ian Lama were the goal scorers for Yavapai, with Brandon Fisher recording an assist. Next up for Yavapai College, they travel to Yuma on Saturday for the Region One championship game versus Arizona Western. The Matadors leveled Southern Nevada in their playoff game last night 8-0.
There is another playoff game tonight involving Yavapai College. The women’s soccer team is in Yuma facing Arizona Western in the Region One semifinals.
