A single-engine plane crashed near Bloody Basin Road near I-17 on Sunday morning. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office reports they received a 911 call from the passenger of a Cessna 172 around 9:30 a.m. stating they had crash-landed and the pilot was injured.
The Sheriff’s Office used off-road vehicles to reach the pilot, who suffered minor injuries, and the passenger. A DPS Ranger helicopter flew the pair to a Phoenix hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but according to an initial statement from the passenger, the plane’s engine failed.
