A pretty good start to the new season for a couple of local wrestling teams. Prescott went down to ALA Gilbert North for its season opener Wednesday. The first two matches went well, with the Badgers gaining victories over Moon Valley and Shadow Mountain, 46-30 and 45-32 respectively. Then Prescott faced a tough ALA Gilbert North team, losing to them 58-17. Cash Kasun, Jonah Gann, and Eli Allen all went unbeaten on the day.
Meanwhile, Chino Valley took a long trip out west to River Valley to start its 2024-25 campaign. They were victorious over Wickenburg but lost a close one with River Valley and also lost by criteria to Bagdad. Final scores were unavailable prior to airtime. Caden Call and Luis Aviles both went 3-0, winning all their matches by pin.
Prescott is at Red Mountain High School for the Nate Johnson Memorial Duals this weekend. Chino Valley goes to Holbrook tomorrow for the Pat Kenny Invitational.
