Some Tri-City area residents may want to celebrate Christmas with decorative candles, but Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority officials want to ensure you do so safely.
They urge everyone to keep candles away from decorations, Christmas trees, and curtains to prevent accidental fires. Candles should be kept at least a foot away from any flammable materials. For added safety, blow out your candles before leaving a room or going to sleep.
A safer alternative is to use flameless candles during the holidays.
