ERAU Men’s Basketball Gets Last Second Win Over Providence

It all boiled down to the final 30 seconds in regulation. Jake Klinger’s three-pointer put the Embry-Riddle men’s basketball team up 82-80. But ten seconds later, Mike Wright responded with a tray of his own to give the University of Providence the 83-82 lead.

The Eagles reclaimed the lead when Isaiah Wong dropped in two free throws to make it an 84-83 game. Wong, however, fouled with four seconds left, and two free throws by Antoine Boyd gave the Argos the 85-84 advantage. But with one second to go, Providence’s Brendan Redhead got called for a foul, and Wong made good on both his free throws to give Riddle the 86-85 triumph on Sunday.

Wong ended the game with eleven points and seven assists. Peter Dress notched 26 points. Klinger posted 12 points. Noah Gifft and Jacey Canalin both netted ten points, and David Teibo grabbed ten rebounds.

The Eagles are now 4-5 on the season and face Rocky Mountain today at Chandler-Gilbert.
