State Forestry & Fire Management Dept Offers Rural Fire Grants

Smaller fire departments in Yavapai County could be eligible for a grant to purchase new equipment. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management has $5 million in grant money available from the American Rescue Plan Act and the Rural Fire Capacity Grant.

This funding can be used by small fire departments to buy new fire engines or water tenders, hand tools, communications equipment, and fire shelters. Fire districts in rural areas can request up to $400,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding.

The deadline to submit an application for these grants is January 24.
