It’s cold at night in the Tri-City area, which means many residents are using portable space heaters to keep warm. But the Prescott Fire Department wants to make sure you are using them safely.
They recommend heaters be kept three feet away from any flammable material. Heaters should also be out of the way of foot traffic in your home and should never block an exit. Space heaters should be placed on a flat surface and should have an auto shut-off in case it tips over. Additionally, space heaters should be turned off and unplugged before you go to bed or leave your home.
