Groom Creek Fire District reports a wildfire broke out Saturday south of Spruce Mountain. Several agencies were dispatched, including the Forest Service, Walker Fire, Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, Groom Creek Fire District, and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire, fueled by wood piles, tree litter, and heavy timber, burned approximately one acre. First responders used drones to positively identify the fire and began searching for a route into the area. Upon arrival, firefighters were informed by a citizen that the fire was behind a home in the 3000 block of Misty Mountain Loop.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and begin mop-up operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
