Car Fire Starts Small Brush Fire on HWY 71

Personnel from the Mayer Fire District headed down to Highway 71 in Congress Wednesday night to help fight a small wildfire. According to Mayer fire officials, a vehicle traveling along the highway struck a deer, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. The fire spread to nearby vegetation.

Along with the Mayer Fire District, units from the Congress Fire Department, Williamson Valley-Bagdad Fire District, and Wickenburg Fire Department battled the blaze and contained it to one acre. No one was injured in the incident.
