Local Fire Officials Remind Folks About the Importance of Defensible Space

The devastating wildfires in Los Angeles are prompting fire officials in the tri-city area to remind people about the importance of defensible space around their homes. Brush, yard debris, and wood piles should all be removed within 30 feet of your home. You should also clear your roof and gutters of leaves and other debris regularly. Ensure trees and bushes are kept at least ten feet apart to reduce the spread of fire.

Fire officials have stated in the past that, in the event of a wildfire, homes with defensible space will be given priority for protection over homes without it.
