Local College Baseball & Softball Teams About to Begin Their Seasons

It’s late January, so that means one thing: college baseball and softball are about to get started in the Tri-City area. The Embry-Riddle baseball team opens tomorrow in the Valley, where they face Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The Eagles won the Cal Pac championship last year, but this year they are in the Great Southwest Athletic Conference, where they must contend with the defending NAIA national champions, Hope International.

The Yavapai College baseball team also begins its season tomorrow on the road with the first of three games versus Central Arizona. The Roughriders went 17-37 last season, though many of those losses were the result of forfeits due to a player eligibility issue.

Yavapai College softball also begins play tomorrow at the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic. The Lady Riders are coming off a 13-24 season in 2024.

As for the Embry-Riddle softball team, the winners of three straight Cal Pac titles, they begin their season at home on February 3rd versus Carroll College.
