Last week’s winter storm did nothing to improve drought conditions in Yavapai County. In fact, it’s drier than ever. The Tri-City area, the Verde Valley, and the southern part of the county are all in extreme drought. Western and northern Yavapai County are in severe drought.
As for the rest of the state, much of western and central Arizona are in extreme drought. Northern and southern Arizona are in either severe drought or moderate drought.
Despite the current drought conditions, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is low. Still, everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark to prevent a wildfire from breaking out.
