Phoenix Man Convicted of Speeding While Drunk in Cornville

A Phoenix man was convicted by a Yavapai County jury Tuesday for speeding while intoxicated.

According to the County Attorney’s Office, 40-year-old David Mendivil was observed by a sheriff’s deputy speeding down Cornville Road without his lights. After he was stopped, Mendivil became irate with the deputy and insisted he was traveling on I-17. The deputy noticed two open beers in Mendivil’s car, and Mendivil’s blood tested positive for both alcohol and marijuana.

He is scheduled for sentencing on February 20th and could face up to six months in jail.
