The Yavapai and South Mountain baseball teams began their Wednesday double-header with a run riot. Both sides exchanged the lead several times. In the end, the Cougars got the deke 14-13. Justin Cherrington homered and drove in four runs for YC. Liam Richards, Kevin Ramos, and Nathan Nichols had two RBIs a piece.
The Roughriders’ offense did not let up in game two, while South Mountain only scratched out a handful of runs. That resulted in an 11-5 victory for Yavapai, earning them the split. Nichols went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Ramos also drove in three runs.
YC’s record now stands at 15-8 on the season. The Roughriders are home again this weekend for a three-game series with Cochise, with a single game Saturday and a twinbill Sunday.
