Prescott National Forest fire managers are conducting prescribed burns in the area of the Prescott Basin. Prep work for the burns began last Thursday. Ignitions are planned through March 31st.
Fire managers expect the smoke impact to be light, and they remind everyone to obey all signage in the burn areas to ensure their safety. The goal of the burns is to reduce hazardous fuels to prevent a catastrophic wildfire from breaking out.
The burn areas are located southeast of Lynx Lake and south of Prescott.
