A Chino Valley Middle School student has advanced to the state spelling bee after winning the 79th annual Yavapai County Spelling Bee in February. Rebecca Caulkins of Heritage Middle School will compete in the Arizona Spelling Bee this Saturday. The event, hosted by the Arizona Education Foundation, is being held at the Madison Center for the Arts in Phoenix.
Caulkins, a seventh grader, joins 27 other finalists at the state level who have the chance to advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. May 27th through May 29th.
