Snow is expected to blanket Yavapai County Thursday and Friday. For those who have to travel, ADOT officials say it is a good idea to have an emergency kit in your car in the event you become stranded.
Items that should be included in the kit are food, water, medication, a first-aid kit, warm clothing, extra blankets, an ice scraper, kitty litter or sand for tire traction, and a fully charged cell phone. You should also make sure your car is in good working order by checking headlights, brake lights, the defroster, and windshield wipers, and keeping the gas tank at least three-quarters full.
ADOT officials say the best way to avoid any weather-related problems is to delay your travel if possible.
