Quick actions by the Cottonwood Police and Fire Departments prevented one local business from being burned to the ground. On Thursday night, an officer was patrolling in the area of the Tractor Supply Company when he noticed a fire behind one of the storage sheds. Bundles of cardboard stacked eight feet high were ablaze.
Cottonwood firefighters were dispatched to the scene and used a backhoe to pull apart the cardboard towers, allowing them to get to the core of the fire. The blaze was extinguished in about an hour, and no further damage was done to the business.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
